人間にとっての「根源的な」存在や時間、日本人にとっての「根源的な」精神、文化、宗教、美、風土を現代という視点を通して表現しています。作品は、赤錆、緑錆、黒錆などの深い色調と金箔、プラチナ箔や日本独自の顔料によって施されています。その表現はシンプルで明快な構成で、多くの物をそぎ落として、なおそこにあるもの、つまり「根源的な」物がそこには満ち溢れているのです。

“I use time and existence, 'fundamental' to humankind, together with spirit, culture, religion, esthetics and the cultural and spiritual climate fundamental to the Japanese, to express a contemporary viewpoint. These pieces have been created using the deep tones of red, green and black rust, as well as gold leaf, platinum leaf and uniquely Japanese pigments. The structure is simple and clear, and much has been scraped away, so that what is left there now is, in essence, wholly fundamental.”
