岡倉天心の『茶の本』によると、日本の建築は古来より、季節の花と、掛け軸などの作品を掛けることで初めて、その空間が無色透明で過不足無い状態だと考えます。静謐な何気ない日常空間を創るには、数多くの意識的な操作が必要であり、絵画もその一つでありたいと考えています。

My desire is for paintings to be one of these numerous conscious manipulations or devices required for the creation of simple and serene everyday spaces.”
